Jesus speaks about the value of being in a meaningful relationship with God but recognises there is a price. And at least one of the people He spoke to found the price was too high and turned away.
Do we really recognise the value of knowing God and can we communicate that to others?
Or do we try to downplay the price because we can’t really explain the value?

Readings: Matthew 13:44-46, 19:16-22

Questions to think about:

  • The kingdom of heaven is spoken of as highly valuable. What value do you see in being a citizen of this kingdom?
  • We frequently have to make “value judgments”. What value do you think most people see in being part of God’s kingdom?
  • How important is being able to speak positively about this value when encouraging people to become disciples?
  • Do we sometimes downplay the cost because we can’t explain the value?
