God wasn’t going to permit wicked rulers to continue. He would punish them and send good and kind rulers in their place. And we see this in the person of Jesus who came as the “good shepherd” to care, to bring life, to bring salvation?
Where are we putting our confidence? In the people around us or in Jesus?
Readings: Jeremiah 23:1-8; John 10:1-16
Questions to think about:
- God spoke out against wicked rulers and the punishment He would bring against them. Does this have warnings for us today?
- God also spoke about providing good shepherds and a wise ruler while Jesus spoke about being the “good shepherd”. How does that encourage and help you?
- What does it mean to you that Jesus was prepared to “lay down his life for the sheep” – for his people?
