Jesus responds to a question about “how many times should we forgive?” by saying that there should be no limit – we should be prepared to carry on forgiving. And he goes on to remind us that we forgive because we have been forgiven.

Words of Jesus that really challenge us: How much are we prepared to forgive others who continue to annoy us? If we don’t forgive others, do we really understand how much we have been forgiven?

Are we “forgiving people” or is this something we need to ask God to help develop in our lives?

Questions to think about:

  • Is the call of Jesus to forgive and not stop forgiving realistic in today’s world? What are the barriers to doing it?
  • Jesus speaks about the king cancelling a huge debt for his servant. How would you describe the debt from which God has released us?
  • How seriously does Jesus take the issue of forgiving our fellow sisters and brothers? How are you going to respond?
