The Holy Spirit is someone whom we can struggle to understand – but he was sent to help us understand Jesus better, set us free from sin, empower us for life, be God living in us, help us know that we are daughters and sons of God.
He also comes to challenge us in the way we live – to live as “children of God”.
What do you think about him, how do you relate to him?
Readings: Ephesians 1:3-14; Romans 8:1-17
Questions to think about:
- What do you make of Paul’s description of the Spirit as a seal and a deposit (Eph 1:13-14)? How does this make you feel?
- In Romans 8 Paul speaks about a different way of living through the Spirit. How would you summarise what Paul is calling for?
- Paul speaks about an obligation to live in a particular way (Rom 8:12-13). Do you feel “obliged” or do you choose for yourself how you will live?
