A reminder that sometimes God acts in judgment on his people, to draw them back to himself. Not an easy process, but sometimes a necessary one.
How much are we prepared to change so that we can really be in a right relationship with God?

Questions to think about:

  • “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered” (v7). How does this help explain some of the ways in which the church is treated and struggles?
  • How do we respond when we recognise that God is challenging us, wanting us to change, wanting to remove impurities from our lives?
  • How does knowing we are God’s people, knowing that He is our God, help you in your daily life as a disciple of Jesus?
