This evening we remind ourselves that we all live lives in a particular context with many different pressures upon us – and in those situations we are called to live as people of God, committed to the things we are doing and committed to God.

In the example of three young men we will see the importance of being ready to contribute, and to become part of our culture, but also the importance of knowing when to say “No” in obedience to God. We’ll also see how God is working to restore everything, to repair everything, and think about how this should encourage us in the things that we spend our time doing.

Readings: Daniel 3:8-18; Colossians 1:15-20

Questions to think about:

  • How does the example of the young men in Daniel – of going so far but no further – speak to you and challenge you?
  • How does the truth that God will reconcile all things in Christ excite and motivate you?
  • What one change can you make in your “public life” to more closely follow God and glorify Jesus?
