Jesus tells a story of a wedding feast and ten young women who were waiting to greet the bridegroom. But only five were able to join the celebration with the other five being left outside.
And they were left outside because they weren’t prepared to meet the groom when he arrived.
How does this challenge you when you think about Jesus returning one day and whether you are ready to meet him?
Reading: Matthew 25:1-13
Questions to think about:
- Five of the women were described as foolish, while five were described as wise. What do you think these terms mean in this story? Does Matthew 7:24-27 help our understanding?
- What fundamental mistakes had the “foolish” women made? How do we avoid making similar mistakes?
- Do you feel prepared to meet with Jesus when he returns? If not, what are you going to do about it?
