God provided “manna” for the people – enough for millions of people to eat for forty years – which says a lot about the powerful and generous nature of God.
And Jesus referred to himself as the “bread from heaven” – offering himself as the one who can give us what we need for life.
How are we going to relate to God, how are we going to respond to Jesus?
Readings: Exodus 16:11-23; John 6:28-40
Questions to think about:
- How does this story of God’s provision for his people in the wilderness speak to you?
- God was able and willing to provide what the people needed to eat each day for forty years (Ex 16:35). What does this tell you about God?
- What do you think Jesus meant in referring to himself as the “bread from heaven” (John 6:35, 48-50)? How can we “take advantage” of that this week?
