As we continue to prepare for our series on the 10 commandments we’re thinking about the second most important commandment – “to love your neighbour as yourself”.

In a world where we are encouraged to look after ourselves, to focus on what we want, to evaluate things based on how they affect us – is this commandment still relevant? If so, what does it look like in practice?

Are we prepared to be different and love others in the same way as we love ourselves?

Readings: Luke 10:25-37; Leviticus 19:1-18

Questions to think about:

  • What are some of the ways in which we love ourselves?
  • How, practically, could we love others in the same way?
  • How different would we be to others in our society if we acted in this way? Would that be a good thing?
