Our text for the year calls us to pray that your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10).
Jesus spoke about doing God’s will as a sign of being part of his family – Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.’ (Mark 3:35)
Are we prepared to pray this prayer – and mean it – and are we prepared to be obedient to God whatever it takes?
Readings: Matthew 6:10; Mark 3:20-35
Questions to think about:
What would need to change in your life if God’s kingdom and righteousness (Matt 6:33) was your top priority?
Jesus spoke about not doing what he wanted but what his Father wanted (John 6:38). How much could we say this about our lives and choices?
Jesus was prepared to follow God’s will even when it involved a real cost (Matt 26:39, 42). What sort of situations cause us to give up, to draw back, from following God’s plan?
