In verse 26 Paul reminds us that when we share bread and wine together we are telling each other that Jesus died. But he also reminds us that one day Jesus will return and we won’t need to remember him in this way any longer.
How do these two realities – one in the past and one in the future – affect you today?

Questions to think about:
- Why is “proclaiming the Lord’s death” (v26) important to you, to the church?
- How do we avoid the danger of sharing bread and wine together becoming a ritual and losing its meaning?
- How much does the fact that Jesus will return in power and glory one day excite you and affect how you live?
