Jesus chose 12 followers to be close to him – why did he choose them, would he have chosen us?
What do these twelve tell us about the sort of followers Jesus is looking for and how we should live & work together?

Questions to think about:

  • These early followers of Jesus were an interesting bunch! Are you surprised about him choosing some of them?
  • Jesus didn’t choose religious leaders or people in authority. Why not?
  • Jesus took his followers to many different settings and challenged their preconceptions. What might this look like today?
  • Verse 16 tells us that Jesus chose his disciples to “bear fruit”. Do we expect this of people who follow Jesus?
  • What do the choices Jesus made have to say about being a disciple and making disciples now?
